I just got Gallery integrated into my Mambo Open Source installation. Now my photos are back online, yey! (I haven't updated them in a while, so please bear with me!)

It was pretty simple if I didn't try to get fancy, that is, if I used an older version of Gallery. I wanted to use Gallery 2+ but this method didn't seem to work. I'll play with it later and see, because 2 looks much cooler than 1.5... Anyway, here's what I did:

  1. I had an installation of gallery in /photos/ (Mambo is in /). I just tweaked it to make sure it was running properly (I hadn't used it in years!)
  2. I then went to http://alligator.xs4all.nl/ and downloaded the "com_gallery2mambo.zip" file and installed that as a mambo componetnt.
  3. Then I went to Components > Gallery and filled in the path to gallery (Server side path).
  4. I added the "Gallery" component to the mainmenu and volia! It works!
I just need to tweak the template a bit because it looks off when viewing large files. Not too bad, just needs some work.

When I first tried this a few days ago I did all the above but with gallery 2, and nothing happened when I clicked on the "Gallery"  link in the mainmenu. When I tried again today I did it with my older gallery and it worked, leading me to believe that com_gallery2mambo will need to be tweaked for Gallery 2+... (More updates to follow).

For now, check out my photos! And remember, those are all quite old, I haven't updated that in years... Updatyes to come, this weekend...? (Cross your fingers!)
